‘This is Rock’n’Roll at its rawest and most enjoyable!!’  – Metal Hammer

Formed in late 1999, the CherryKicks were drawn together by a common love of AC/DC and loud guitars combined with a burning desire to create a life-affirming rock’n’roll noise driven by soaring melodies, killer hooks and thunderous riffs…

Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland and comprising of Dave (vocals/guitar) Andy (bass/vocals) Craig (drums/vocals) and Mike (guitar/vocals), the CherryKicks initially aimed to fuse the melodies and dynamics of The Wildhearts, the explosive rock’n’riot of bands like The Almighty and the Ramones, with the sonic attitude of early-Guns’n’Roses. The resulting potent mix of melodic pop-punk and down-and-dirty rock’n’roll can be heard in embryonic form on the self-financed ‘Waste it’ demo (recorded at Redeye studios, Glasgow & released in April 2001). This rough-and-ready 3-track started raising eyebrows in and around the Glasgow area amongst music fans and promoters alike, and the bands website ( and ever-expanding mailing list has ensured an enthusiastic following from much further afield.

In addition to having extensively toured the UK (sharing stages nation-wide with such established names as The Wildhearts, Electric Frankenstein, Nerve, Easyworld, Violent Delight, 4ft Fingers, Tuuli, Goldblade, Candyheads, B*Movie Heroes, Plan-A and The Relatives) the CherryKicks have received Radio 1 airplay, been singled out for live sessions on BBC Radio Scotland, featured on three compilation albums (released nation wide) and appeared on a Canadian TV series soundtrack.

In February 2003 the CherryKicks entered the studio with Chris Gordon (Baby Chaos, Deckard, Regency Buck) to record their debut single for SixFeetDeep Records. The resulting 4-track ‘
Radio Tokyo’ perfectly showcases the bands ability to write explosive-yet-melodic punk rock anthems (‘Radio Tokyo’ and live favourite ‘Living American’), full-throttle sing-alongs (‘Hey Hey Hey’) as well as demonstrating a slightly different approach to the CherryKicks sound (the raging ‘Shiny Little Gun’).

The CherryKicks’ time is now spent honing their sound, recording new material and playing their brand of good-time punk rock’n’roll to an ever-growing fan base. The band will soon be touring in support of ‘Radio Tokyo’ and plans are already on the drawing board for a debut album. In a world dominated by plastic, pre-packaged pop and celebrity driven media, the CherryKicks have set out their agenda with attitude and enthusiasm: to demonstrate the undeniable power of a great tune, a big riff and very, very loud guitars…
